Your Home Away From Home Kinda Place

Welcome to The Lomagundi Lakeside Website

Lomagundi Lakeside takes its name from the old Lomagundi District — a vast swathe of what is now Mashonaland West province, a name that carries the weight of Zimbabwe’s settler history and the beauty of its landscape in equal measure. When the fishing clubs of Rhodesia first built their holiday homes along this stretch of the Kariba shoreline, they were staking a claim to something simple and true: that this lake, with its ancient hills and extraordinary wildlife, is worth coming back to.

Decades on, that claim stands. The homes have grown, the facilities have improved, and the guests who arrive from across Zimbabwe and beyond come for the same reason they always did — because Lomagundi Lakeside is not trying to be anything other than what it is. A lake. A braai. A cold drink. The sound of hippos in the dark.

Home away from home.

Restaurant & Bar

The heart of Lomagundi Lakeside is The Dome — an open-air, thatched bar and restaurant overlooking the harbour, open seven days a week from 7am to 10pm. Come for a cold Zambezi lager and fresh fish and chips as the sun goes down, or settle in on a Thursday night for our legendary Peri Peri Chicken special. The Dome offers Wi-Fi, DSTV, and a children’s play area, making it the natural gathering spot for everyone staying on the property — and for Kariba locals who know a good thing when they find it.
